Tower Bosses

Core Mechanics

There are 7 Tower Bosses in Palworld.
Defeat the Tower Boss within 10 minutes for a one time reward of ancient tech points and to unlock new technology. Normal mode has no repeated rewards besides XP gain.

To start a fight go to the base of a tower and hit the key to enter.

Aggro: Tower Bosses usually target whatever is doing the most damage, so if the pal is dealing most damage it will target the pal, if the player is dealing most it will target the player. There is still a low chance it swaps target for one attack.

Sending out a pal resets aggro to the pal. Using a Partner Skill (like Libero, Incineram, Fuack) also resets aggro to the pal.

Hard Mode
Defeat the first 6 Tower Bosses to unlock Hard Mode, a more difficult challenge with increased boss levels and added mechanics. Rewards Training Crystals, a cosmetic hat and sometimes Lotus flowers for Stat Elixirs.

Stats:
Tower Bosses have built in damage reduction, health increase and attack boosts.
Attack is the attack power with boosts.
HP is the heath with heal bonuses and damage reduction.
EHP is effective hp, health with defense included.

Direhowl (Bog Blast + Fierce Fang), Foxparks (Partner Skill), Rushroar, Univolt, Incineram (Partner Skill).

A level 10 Direhowl with just Bog Blast + Fierce Fang can solo Zoe & Grizzbolt.

Counter Attacks

It can be tricky to find good Skill Fruits this early. Check early Skill Fruit Trees for Ground skills (top pick is Sand Tornado), Flare Storm, Seed Mine and Grass Tornado. Tornado skills are good early/mid game attacks.

See Best Active Skills.

Threats

Lightning Claw can be tricky to dodge. Try to rely on the shield to tank this skill while dodging the others.

Tips

You will easily outlevel Zoe, you can come back in a few minutes with a big level advantage and better attacks.
Burn & Poison are heavily reduced vs Tower Bosses, only dealing ~1.5% over their entire duration.

Threats

The root effect from the new grass attacks can cause trouble, watch out for Spine Vine and random Seed Mine explosions.

Tips

Threats

Lots of Root attacks and slows from water attacks. Poison from Poison Fog hurts the Player & Pals quite a bit.
Lyleen also heals, so dps can become an issue.

When Lyleen tries to get close get ready to withdraw or dodge a Poison Fog.
Use Grapple to dodge if you get rooted.

Other options are Grass or Water pals with fire attacks like Finsider Ignis.

Counter Attacks

Flame Funnel > Air Blade = Flare Storm.

See Best Active Skills.

Threats

The root effect from the grass attacks can cause trouble. Wall Splash destroys most fire pals.

Tips

Flame Funnel is a big dps boost against Lily. Most of the attacks are not blocked by pillars, it is best to keep moving in a circle around the boss room.

Threats

Kerauno can deal heavy damage. Dragon Cannon has a fast animation and projectile.

Tips

Threats

Beam Slicer and Blast Cannon are big threats that can also burn.
Polykerauno can be tricky to dodge and deals high damage.

Tips

Croajiro Noct, Turtacle, Fuack ignis, Gloopie, Jelliette, Jellroy – all learn Hydro Slicer
Lullu, Mimog, Yakumo, Celesdir – All learn Holy Burst
Faleris Aqua, Croajiro, Finsider, Jelliette – all learn Curtain Splash

Catching a mix of 5 of these will do the trick, some good options around Marcus level is Finsider inside desert/volcano dungeons, around level 35.
Yakumo on Sakurajima, try to catch the level 45 ones so you don’t need to level them.

Counter Attacks

Acid Rain Skill Fruits can be bought from Merchants.

Holy Burst > Hydro Slicer > Wall Splash > Air Blade = Splash.

See Best Active Skills.

Threats

Phoenix Flare. When you withdraw dodge your pal it can redirect the tackle towards you if you withdraw too soon.
Some electric skills to counter water pals.
Lots of Burn effects from quick projectiles like Ignis Blast.

Tips

Using fire pals increases temperature, using ice decreases. This affects how much burn damage you will take.

Counter Pals

Any pal with Holy Burst.
Selyne is the best option, getting x2 damage on Holy Burst with the Partner Skill.
Neptilius and Finsider Ignis are also good options.
Player Attack Build: Felbat or Azurobe. Azurobe is a little bit clunky vs Faleris and Holy Bursting pals deal very high DPS. One of the few fights where the Gobfin Build is not king.

Counter Attacks

Holy Burst >Hydro Slicer > Wall Splash > Air Blade.
In general adding another water attack gives worse results since it will take priority over Holy Burst.

See Best Active Skills.

Threats

Raging Flame Wave, try to get out before it closes the circle.
Thunderstorm can lead to follow up hits, sprint away from it.

Tips

Holy Burst makes this one of the fastest and easiest Hard Modes.

Mounting Selyne after the animation of Holy Burst starts will give it double damage on hit, followed by a player controlled Holy Burst with double damage.

Use the Ring of Fire Resistance +2 and Electric Resistance +2. Hard Mode Marcus only uses these 2 elements.

Player Attack Build: Chillet

Similar case to Victor where no pal is “great”. Saya does heavy damage to all pals, but most against big pals like Jormuntide or Astegon.

Counter Attacks

Beam Slicer, Blast Cannon, Air Blade.
These attacks can also hit the adds when they spawn for huge healing with Vampiric.

See Best Active Skills.

Threats

Hard Mode Saya has a lot of One-Shot skills, be ready to withdraw dodge against Holy Burst, Air Blade, Star Mine, Double Blizzard Spike, Diamond Rain and Blast Cannon.

Dark Cannon is a fast attack that can interrupt shield regen.

Tips

Focus on staying alive more than dealing damage. When you start getting close to the add phase slow down and make sure to have full shields and weapons reloaded, then try to burst down the Selynes when they spawn.

If they start attacking they will spread out and can quickly overwhelm the player.

Tips

Lots of Water attacks to counter fire pals, bringing Faleris or Jormuntide Ignis to this fight is no fun. Grapple + Tripple Jump boots makes the fight a lot easier, especially with an added Galeclaw.

Don’t let your pal walk to close due to Rockburst.

Counter Pals

Knocklem, Shadowbeak, Bellanoir Libero, Bastigor, Necromus
Player Attack: Wixen, Ragnahawk

At this point of the game the pals you bring vs normal and hard modes are similar. Using a Wixen with grass attacks is currently the fastest method by far, but not the easiest.
Using Felbat or Knocklem makes the fight much easier.

If using a regular Pal Damage Build the risk is that the Pal deals enough damage to draw aggro from the Player, leading to a cycle of withdraw dodging. It is better to have a Pal dealing just below Player Damage.

Counter Attacks

Flame Funnel > Rockburst = Air Blade > Flare Storm = Lightning Streak = Seed Mine.

Rockburst and Air Blade when positioned correctly deal heavy amounts of damage to Bjorn. Fire attacks outside of Flame Funnel are a bit lacking compared to the Dragon or Water skills from earlier boss fights.

See Best Active Skills.

Threats

Hard Mode Bjorn has a lot of One-Shot skills with its huge attack stat, be ready to withdraw dodge against Glacial Impact, Double Blizzard Spike, Stone Beat, Diamond Rain and Wall Splash.

Dark arrow is a fast attack that can interrupt shield regen.

Tips

Hard Mode Bjorn has such big damage boosts that most of the attacks become one-shots. Wearing a +2 Resistance ring can help a lot for attacks you have trouble dodging.

Recommended Hard Mode Builds

Felbat/Lovander Build – Easiest, Player Damage

1 Felbat: Vanguard, Musclehead, Demon God, Legend.
4 Gobfins: Vanguard, Stronghold Strategist.

This build uses Felbat or Lovanders Partner Skill to give lifesteal to the player. With a Max Attack Build this makes the player near invincible and Tower Bosses a breeze. Scales with player power, so better with good gear.

Example Lovander

Knocklem Build – Easy, Pal Damage

Party:
2-5 Knocklems: Musclehead, Demon God, Legend, Ferocious/Vanguard.
0-3 Dumud: Vanguard, Stronghold Strategist.

Passives:
Knocklem: Demon God – Legend – Musclehead – Ferocious.
Dumud: Vanguard – Stronghold Strategist – 2 Free Slots.

Description:
This build uses Knocklems Partner Skill to have it fight bosses for you. More than one Knocklem is used for Partner Skill uptime (2 needed for 100%) and to Switch between powered up Rockbursts. Requires zero player damage, maxed Knocklems can take down all current Tower Bosses on Hard Mode without player help.

When using this build the boss will rarely target the player, and Knocklem is tanky enough to not need withdraw dodging.

Example Knocklem Solos Hard Mode Bjorn

Player Attack Build – Medium/Hard, Player Damage

Currently the highest dps build in Palworld, in depth guide here.

Party:
1 Element Swap Pal (Anubis, Ragnahawk, Chillet).
4 Gobfins

Passives:
Fighters: Vampiric – Vanguard – Demon God – Legend / Musclehead / Serenity
Mounts: Vanguard – Legend – Swift – Runner/Serenity
Gobfins: Vanguard, Stronghold Strategist.

Description:
This build has great dps but will also have the boss focusing the player, and without Felbat the player now needs to dodge.
